It is with great sadness we report the death of Bob Butt, one of our long-standing members who cycled with the Fleet Cycling group. We send our sincere condolences to his family.
A local lad, Bob worked at the Royal Aircraft Establishment at Farnborough. He married Chris and they have three sons. Always active, Bob was a member of the Hart Road Runners for many years, during which time he ran many half-marathons and several marathons. He was also a life-long blood donor, donating blood 110 times in all.
At the end of his running career in the 1990s he started cycling with the North Hampshire CTC group at Fleet, where he made many friends.
Bob was a fighter, and despite battling with cancer over many years he refused to give up, just last month cycling out to Hartley Wintney to meet the group. His attitude has been an inspiration to his many friends and fellow cyclists.
Bob’s cremation will be held at Aldershot Crematorium at 9.15am on Thursday 12th April. This will be followed by a gathering to celebrate his life at 10.30am at Ewshot Village Hall. All are welcome to attend.
